Layers of sharp cheddar, mozzarella, and Gruyère melted between buttered bread with a honey touch.

# What You'll Need:

→ Bread

01 - 4 slices sourdough or country-style bread

→ Cheeses

02 - 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese
03 - 2 slices mozzarella cheese
04 - 2 slices Gruyère cheese

→ Spread & Butter

05 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

→ Finishing Touch

06 - 2 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling

# How to Prepare:

01 - Place a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat and allow it to warm through.
02 - Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
03 - Place two bread slices butter-side down on a cutting board. Arrange one slice each of cheddar, mozzarella, and Gruyère on top of each bread slice.
04 - Drizzle 1 tablespoon of honey over the cheese layers on each sandwich.
05 - Top each sandwich with the remaining bread slices, butter-side facing up.
06 - Transfer sandwiches to the preheated skillet. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until bread turns golden brown and cheese melts completely.
07 - Remove from pan, cut each sandwich in half diagonally, and drizzle with additional honey if desired. Serve immediately while hot.

# Expert advice:

01 -
  • The three-cheese blend creates an incredible depth of flavor that actually benefits from the honeys sweetness
  • This comes together in under 20 minutes but tastes like something from a fancy café
02 -
  • Keep the heat at medium or lower, because high heat burns the bread before the cheese melts properly
  • The honey goes directly on the cheese, not the bread, to prevent sogginess and ensure even distribution
03 -
  • Use a cast iron skillet for the most even heat distribution and impressive crust
  • Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top after cooking for a professional finish
